During Mass, it is the practice of gathering the children from the assembly during the Liturgy of the Word to celebrate a separate Liturgy of the Word that is more appropriate to their level of understanding.
It is to make the Word of God more accessible to children and to enable them to participate more fully in the Sunday liturgy.
It will take place at 7.30pm Saturday Mass in Garrafrauns. (Starting in September) During the Mass the children will be taken from the Church with the Liturgy Leaders (and parents too if they wish) to another room. They will return at the Offertory.
Any child at pre-school age and above. The Children will be asked to sit in a circle, listen to the Gospel, say prayers and partake in an activity/colouring sheet.
Congratulations to the 6 excellent young people who have just completed their John Paul II award through the Parish of Dunmore. They worked extremely hard over the past year, achieving 20 hours of Parish Involvement and 20 hours Community/Social Involvement. Fr Fergal, Award Leader Orla and leaders Angela & Marie are very proud of them and are delighted that they wish to continue meeting and working together into the future.
John Paul II Awards will be offered to TY Students and above in the next month – we look forward to welcoming the new recruits.
On Saturday 17th May, 7 people travelled from Dunmore to join the Diocesan Youth Council on their Annual Youth Pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick. It was a wet and cold day and the 100 pilgrims from the diocese had a tough climb. Mass was celebrated by Fr Tod Nolan at the top and we had some great food when we reached the bottom of the reek. Well done to Kate Ryder, Pierce Kirrane, Sean Kelly and Peter Donlon who climbed alongside the Youth Ministry Team.
Monday 30th December
5 of our JP II students + 3 adults headed off for the 11 mile Stage 1 of the Tochar Walk. It was a beautiful day, but the rain had made the path rather wet and muddy and the terrain was tough. But we made it. A total of 95 young people and adults completed the pilgrimage and are now looking forward to Stage 2.
